Fantastic stuff! You are right about the circle being loud.
I'm not much of an artist (or a scientist in the biological way) but the works seem to be appropriate.

I should read before I post...the heart illustration is lovely. I don't think it's "girly," and to me the molecular piece stands out more than the turtle. Maybe you can switch the molecule and the turtle so it has this gradual full color to line thing as your eye goes down. But yeah, hooray for making a blog! And your website is cookin'!
